This story is a sequel to Look, I Have Extremely High Standards
You and Moondancer have grown very close since your date last month. Unfortunately, she lives in Canterlot while you still live in Ponyville, and most of your communication occurs through letters. So, when the opportunity arises for the two of you to meet once more during the Princess Procession, a parade-like event held in Canterlot every year, you were ecstatic to finally have an excuse to see each other again. Twilight, wanting an excuse of her own to get you and Moondancer together even during the event itself, arranged for an important job at the end of the parade to be handled by the two of you.
However, after Moondancer fails to show up at the place you agreed to meet at, you stumble upon an opened, enchanted manga in her living room. Fearing the worst, you hop inside.
Now, the two of you must swallow your pride and live out the events of Equestria's most popular slow burn romance manga to return to the real world. But with the Princess Procession having already started, you'd better get through it quickly if you want to return to the parade before its conclusion!
I'm early 'les gooooo-
I like to think myself a patient person...but god damn if I don't want to suffer through a hundred chapters watching the SLOWEST of slow burn romances, Nagatoro & Komi are great, but I just don't have the time I used to read (said while reading Fimfiction) and everyday life.
Uh-oh, Runic's released a story that isn't a one-shot.
BRACE YOURSELVES!
No fair. I asked for a Zecora sequel and got downvoted to heck.
THanks for this.
Moon-chan is sugoi.
When I saw this, I was surprised to see a sequel out so soon but that's the magical power of Runic.
Getting back on track, I have to say that the concept has me curious. I've never really watched anime or read manga, so I wouldn't know what are the common tropes and clichés that regularly occur in anime or manga. That said, I will admit that the news of a Persona 3 remake has caught my attention and actually had me excited for when it comes out. In a sense, the game might give me a clear presentation of what common clichés occur in Japanese works.
It makes one wonder what it would be like if the main cast had gotten sucked into a manga book instead of a comic book.
Sounds like Anon is being a bit overdramatic. I mean how in the world is the future of his relationship going to be determined by being at the end of a parade? It just makes no sense to me especially since Twilight is no expert on romance.
This story is off to a great start and I'm looking forward to reading more. As promised, I'll work on reading all of your works whenever I can.
On a side note, I wonder if you plan on publishing some more stories that take place in the Equestria Girls world?
11697319
Potentially. I just typically find it more difficult to come up with ideas that I want to write about for EQG than for FiM.
11697320
I see. I was just curious and your answer satisfied my curiosity.
This is "Power Ponies" all over.
11697320
Given some history and it's land marks there's gotta to be some blanks to be added. Like 'Stoking the Flames'.
Ooh we get a continuation. Love that. Is it just me or do I also want to see how this whole thing plays out (as someone who has never read/watched anime/manga).
The second after I read "Isn't the whole point of these enchanted comics that we have to live through the story of the main cast?" and that information connected to the fact that they have pony-versions of the mangas we have... It immediately inspired dread. There are SEVERAL mangas with storylines I can name off the top of my head that not a SINGLE SOUL would want to live through. First one starts with a B, ends with Zerk. But I think ponies wouldn't have the kind of imagination that requires, so, my worry is for naught. I hope.

Please enchant responsibly, everypony!
TROOOOOOOOPES!!!!!!!!!!
11697633
Or a certain manga about devils, hybrids, and an average teenage boy!
11697649
And if you can't be responsible about it, at least make sure that the final result is entertaining.
Spoilers in this comment for Komi, btw
I am loving this little cliche manga romance Anon and Moondancer are in! But the fact that it’s Komi is just too good. Not only did it take like 200 something chapters, and as of today it was very recently that they even shared their first kiss, but being one of the biggest slowburns in modern manga is fantastic. I loved the beginning of Komi much more, the uniqueness of their situation and trying to make friends (everyone go watch the chalkboard scene from the pilot episode, thats an order), where as now it’s just a typical romcom.
So I not only find it funny, but love the fact we’re using Komi as the manga lmao!

I would like to temper some expectations now, before we get too deep into this: It's not meant to be a parody of Komi specifically, it's more like a hodgepodge of generic tropes. I make jokes and references of course (mostly because Komi is recognizable and suitably long to make sense in this context), but please do not expect too many Komi-specific parallels.
This is so cute that it's crazy. More than just manga, this could apply to video games as well. Persona 3, 4 and 5 all had dating aspects that remind me of this.
This is like every manga ever made. I can't stop laughing.
11698496
Ah that makes a bit more sense, I thought this was a playful jab at Komi specifically.
I couldn't help but laugh throughout the chapter at the antics that Anon and Moondancer found themselves in.
Regardless of what happens, I have a feeling that Anon and Moondancer's relationship is going to end up much stronger thanks to this manga and it'll be more effective than what Twilight has in plan for them.
Keep up the good work as always and I'm looking forward to reading more.
Sarcastic parodies are my favorite and this is absolutely incredible! I applaud your work mate!
It's not a speedrun unless we get at least one BLJ scene. Looking forward to more!
Oh boy, speed running 300+ chapters of slow burn.
Awww.
Wait....
....Shokugeki No Soma would be pure torture.
The number of moments between Anon and Moondancer was adorable.
I remember reading an online article once that stated how a beach arc was a common trope in anime as well. Personally, I noticed that in the Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 games there is also a beach arc about midway through the game.
Reading this part reminds me of this video I once saw on YouTube:
NOTE: The part I'm referring to happens between 5:40 to 7:32 in the video.
I've never really understood what's the point of a character smashing a fruit in the video of anime beach moments I've seen on YouTube. The entire concept just doesn't make any sense to me.
Happy to see that Anon is determined to bring Moondancer out of her shell. The way Moondancer perked up at Anon made her look like a little filly in a candy store.
Another common trope that is also apparent in anime and video games made in Japan. Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 have this common trope.
Adventure still awaits Anon and his precious Moonie.
Tally ho, as they say.
Woah woah. One use per pony only?? No wonder why Moondancer was getting disappointed by the speedrun.
She didn't get one of those yo-yo water balloons? Bummer.
I love those.
Also, it's not a Japanese high school without the Westminster Quarters.
Hot Springs sounds sexy but most Japanese hot springs have the guest's nude or just wearing a towel, and usually separate areas for the males and females. Given the date-like quality of the experience, it makes me wonder how the author is going to handle that in an E-rated story.

Ita gonna be pretty easy, barely an inconvenience really, because ponies are always naked, and just saying that anon is almost naked it's not enough to raise from an E to an T
And yet, if those tropes are constantly used then, as far as I know, every manga and anime then ends up with the same story outline and ends up being all the same. Sometimes a break in the norm is necessary if a manga/anime is to stick out from the others, at least I believe so.
Have to give Moondancer for nailing that debate right on the head.
Of course, that's the beauty of fanfiction, in which the writers can create their own backstories for numerous background characters. Especially for this site, which presents us with the opportunity to create backstories for numerous characters such as Derpy and Octavia.
Another common trope I remember: the occasional male anime/manga MC crossdressing. I remember seeing this trope be applied in some of the numerous Japanese games and anime, such as the Pokemon series. While some characters, like Ash Ketchum, have no problem crossdressing, other characters often feel embarrassed and mortified at having to crossdress.
Looks like Moondancer has found a kink/fetish that she has for Anon. One can only imagine how she might use this for her own uses during an offscreen moment of romantic passion.
Oh man, one of the most dreadful tropes that's out there. I've not seem much anime or read manga, but the hot springs trope is my least favorite. I can thank Persona 5: Strikers for showing why that is the case.
11699645
Geez, imagine getting the typical reactions from eating the food and not even knowing why.
Moonie would like Blend S, methinks.
Now we just need the Sick Day, Test of Courage, and Missing the Last Train and Needing to Stay at a Hotel plots.

Oh dear God!
What is the Bechdel test?
11701268
Taken from Wikipedia, "The Bechdel test, also known as the Bechdel-Wallace test, is a measure of the representation of women in film and other fiction. The test asks whether a work features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. The requirement that the two women be named is sometimes added."
I was poking fun at the fact that many manga and anime are often accused of not being able to pass the Bechdel test.
That finale was so out of left field and I’m all for it
HA!
Where have I heard that before?
11701273
Thanks
What is there for always naked ponies to peep at?
11701273
Could the same test be applied to how there are always some male characters that only talk about girls in both anime and manga?
I have to admit that you managed to make the whole hot springs arc not as bad as it's typically portrayed.
Good to see that Anon has standards in this story. This is the first time that I've seen the MC actually take action to avoid peeping at the females. From what I researched, the MC's typically either do nothing or get in on trying to peek, with either action usually landing them into trouble with the female characters.
Looks like Moondancer will make an exception for Anon. It makes me wonder if offscreen, Moondancer will have lustful developments for Anon.
From the looks of things, the story is almost finished.
That. Was. Amazing! I loved it.
Princess Piñata.
Wer hat sich diese Tradition ausgedacht! HA HA

I couldn't agree more. It was a finale I was not expecting, that's for sure. I especially loved the ending.
At last, the adventure comes to an end.
This was such a great read. I have to admit that the ending made me smile despite it not being what I was expecting to happen.
Looks like Anon is a bit like Twilight when it comes to overreacting during stressful moments.
If only you knew Twilight. If only you knew.
SEQUEL!!!!!!!
